Greetings and welcome to the Colombo Institute for Human Sciences!
Colombo Institute’s primary aim is to offer an enabling environment and space to create intellectual rigour and innovative thinking in domains of socio-cultural knowledge production in Sri Lanka and more widely in South Asia. In this endeavor, our broader focus is on social sciences and humanities. We aspire to become an alternative forum for thinking, working and conducting regular conversations across South Asia and the world.
Towards this end, Colombo Institute will focus on the following specific objectives: cultural and social research; developmental research and consultancies; academic and theoretical publications in social sciences and humanities; creating spaces and avenues for creative writing, including publications in these subject areas; production of films, podcasts and other media-based tools for the dissemination of knowledge; translations in academic and creative writing; teaching in social sciences and humanities, and creating research and intellectual networks across South Asia and beyond.

කොළඹ ආයතනයේ ප්‍රධාන අරමුණ වන්නේ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සහ වඩාත් පුළුල්ව දකුණු ආසියා කලාපයේ සමාජ-සංස්කෘතික දැනුම් නිෂ්පාදන අඩවි තුළ බුද්ධිමය දෘඪතාව සහ නව්‍ය චින්තනය වර්ධනය කිරීමට හැකි පරිසරයක් සහ අවකාශයක් සැකසීමය. මෙම ප්‍රයත්නයේදී අපගේ පුළුල් අවධානය යොමු වන්නේ සමාජයීය විද්‍යා සහ මානව ශාස්ත්‍ර කෙරෙහි ය. මෙයින් ඔබ්බට, අපේ අරමුණ වන්නේ, දකුණු ආසියාව සහ ලෝකයේ අන් ස්ථානවල සිතීමේ, බුද්ධිමය කටයුතුවල නිරතවීමේ සහ නිරන්තර කතිකා පැවැත්වීමේ හැකියාව ඇති විකල්ප අවකාශයක් බවට පත්වීමයි.
එහි ඉලක්ක සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීම සඳහා, කොළඹ ආයතනය එහි ප්‍රධාන මෙහෙයුම් උපාය මාර්ග ලෙස පහත අරමුණු කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කරනු ඇත.: සංස්කෘතික හා සමාජ පර්යේෂණ; සංවර්ධනය පිළිබඳ පර්යේෂණ සහ විශේෂඥ උපදේශන; සමාජයීය විද්‍යා සහ මානව ශාස්ත්‍ර පිළිබඳ ශාස්ත්‍රීය හා න්‍යායාත්මක දැනුම ප්‍රකාශයට පත්කිරීම; නිර්මාණාත්මක රචනය සඳහා අවශ්‍ය අවකාශ, මාර්ග විවර කිරීම සහ නිර්මාණ සාහිත්‍ය ප්‍රකාශන; දැනුම ව්‍යාප්ත කිරීම උදෙසා චිත්‍රපට, ශ්‍රව්‍ය පඨ (පොඩ්කාස්ට්) සහ අනෙකුත් මාධ්‍ය නිෂ්පාදනය සහ මුදා හැරීම; ශාස්ත්‍රීය හා නිර්මාණ සාහිත්‍යය කෘති පරිවර්තනය කිරීම; සමාජයීය විද්‍යා සහ මානව ශාස්ත්‍ර විෂයන්ඉගැන්වීම සහ දකුණු ආසියාව පුරා සහ ඉන් ඔබ්බට පර්යේෂණ සහ බුද්ධිමය සම්න්ධතා ජාල නිර්මාණය කිරීම.
